What Happened
Video footage circulating on Instagram shows a vendor operating under the Instagram handle @dexstarityreally being confronted at a card show for selling resealed Pokemon packs.
The confrontation was captured and shared by fellow vendor @sanjose.tcg, who approached @dexstarityreally directly after the resealed packs were discovered. The video shows the exchange between the two vendors and the response from @dexstarityreally when faced with the evidence.
The Defense — "I'm Not a Pokemon Expert"
When confronted about the resealed packs, @dexstarityreally's response was that he is not a Pokemon expert. A look at his Instagram profile appears to support this — he primarily promotes himself as a musician and DJ, not a card vendor.
However, not being a Pokemon expert does not explain how resealed packs end up in your booth at a card show. Resealed packs are deliberately tampered with — the valuable cards are removed and the pack is resealed to look untouched before being sold to unsuspecting buyers. Whether the vendor did this themselves or sourced inventory without proper vetting, the result is the same: collectors paid real money for packs that had already been searched.
Refund Refused
What makes this situation significantly worse is what happened next. Rather than acknowledging the issue and making affected buyers whole, @dexstarityreally became defensive and refused to issue refunds.
This is the part that matters most to the community. Mistakes happen. Bad inventory happens. What defines a vendor's character is how they respond when something goes wrong. Refusing to refund buyers who purchased tampered product is not a mistake — it is a choice.
Why This Matters
Resealed packs are one of the most damaging forms of fraud in the hobby. Buyers at card shows trust that sealed product is genuinely sealed. When that trust is violated — especially at a physical show where the transaction is face to face — it undermines the entire card show experience for everyone.
@sanjose.tcg did the community a service by confronting this publicly and on camera. This is exactly the kind of accountability the hobby needs more of.
