The Seller
tystoys on Whatnot describes himself as a hobby enthusiast who loves One Piece and Yugioh and prices competitively with the market. At the time of this incident his profile showed:
- 5.0 star rating across 465 reviews
- 2,600+ items sold
- Average ship time of 1 day
On paper one of the most trustworthy sellers on the platform. Perfect rating. Thousands of sales. Fast shipping.
This is what happened behind that perfect rating.
The Existing Relationship
The buyer and tystoys had an established relationship. They had done business before. When the buyer had bad pulls on previous breaks tystoys had given them free packs as goodwill — somewhere in the range of 20-30 free packs over time.
This detail matters for what came next.
The Win
During an op14/15 RTYH double case break on April 15, 2026 the buyer pulled an incredibly expensive card — worth approximately $1,000.
The card was shown on stream. The win was legitimate. The buyer was understandably excited — this was reportedly the only Anniversary card they had ever hit.
The Cancellation
Shortly after the break tystoys cancelled the order through Whatnot citing "seller-related shipping issues."
The official cancellation email sent to the buyer contained a message from tystoys that revealed far more than a shipping issue:
"I will DM about this, I'm sorry this is a shitty situation for me but I cannot ship this Anniversary. I already gave 20-30 free packs Pokemon cards and now this it's just too much. I hope you understand where I'm coming from — from a normal stream you would have lost 400 bucks and got your 1 AA. I gave you TONS of free packs sealed Pokemon as well. I know this is not what you want to hear and I'm sorry truly again. SO I added in a SP and 6 AAs in your bag plus the Pokemon. I hope this makes up even a little bit but even that is way more than you were intended to get but I appreciate you always and I apologize again."
Read that again carefully.
The seller cancelled the order — and kept the $1,000 card — because he felt that the free packs he had previously given the buyer made the win "too much."
He is essentially arguing that goodwill gestures he made voluntarily during previous bad pulls should be deducted from a legitimate win the buyer earned in a paid break.
The Private Message
The message thread between tystoys and the buyer makes the reasoning even more explicit.
In a message sent at 1:00 AM tystoys wrote:
"I never tell people they owe me but fuck dude you owe me. I gave you like 50 free packs and a $1000 card for free basically."
He then immediately asked:
"Also what are the chances of you wanting to sell this to me?"
The seller who just cancelled the buyer's order for a $1,000 card then asked if the buyer wanted to sell it back to him.
The buyer's response documented in screenshots was measured. They noted it was the only Anniversary card they had ever hit and they were thinking of holding it and getting it graded.
The Core Issue
What tystoys did here has a name — it is called selectively cancelling a win because the seller did not like the outcome.
Card breaks operate on a simple premise: you pay for a slot, whatever comes out is yours. The seller does not get to retroactively decide that a win was "too much" because of unrelated goodwill gestures made in previous sessions.
Free packs given during bad pulls are exactly that — free. A gift. They do not create a debt. They do not give the seller the right to withhold a future legitimate win.
The cancellation reason cited by Whatnot was "seller-related shipping issues." The private message makes clear the real reason had nothing to do with shipping.
